2013 Disney Store "Classic" Snow White Dolls

Snow White was of course part of this year's Disney Princess Classic Doll Collection from the Disney Store. Released online on June 10, 2013, the series consists of eleven 12" princess dolls, plus princes, villains and a few sidekicks too. Vinyl. Retail $14.95; sold separately.

A description of the Snow White doll from collector drj1828:

Her head and face are the same as the 2012 doll, which I like very much. Her hairdo is now much more movie accurate and manageable, by eliminating the messy upper side curls. Her bodice looks the same, but her skirt is shorter and has a pretty floral pattern in gold glitter. The best change is the addition of a red satin cape. Even though it is only half-length, it makes the doll much more royal looking, and movie accurate. The other major change is the replacement of the fully articulated legs with the old rubber legs, with fixed angled feet and internal knee joints. I would rather that they fixed the problems with the 2012 legs, but the rubber legs do look a lot better, with the disadvantage of being much less posable.

Compare this latest version with the other Snow White "classic" dolls from 2010, 2011 & 2012.

The 2013 Prince Classic Doll appeared on June 21st. A fresh blue box design matches that of the new Snow White and the Queen, but the Prince doll itself is identical to those released in previous years.

2013 Evil Queen "Classic" Doll

Right before the start of the new year, Disney Store released several villains into their Classic Doll Collection. Among them is none other than Snow White's evil stepmother. The 12" Queen comes in her purple satin gown with gold trim and a red braided tie, plus a black cape lined with red satin.

The Queen, with her oversized head and affordable sticker price ($14.50 or two for $20), is more in line with a younger target audience. Some folks don't quite know what to make of her enlarged cranial dimensions, but I kind of like the big noggin. Fully poseable. Plastic/polyester.

The same "Classic Doll Collection" packaging was seen earlier in the series with the 2012 Snow White & Prince dolls.

2012 Seven Dwarfs Doll Set

This doll collection appeared at the Disney Store in early 2012. The Dwarfs stand up to 4.5" tall and are articulated at the neck, shoulder, hip and knee joints. Made of plastic/polyester, they have molded hats, but removable fabric outfits. A plastic mining tool is included for each doll. Retail price: $29.50 (USD).

The set is part of the Disney Princess Classic Doll Collection and coordinates with the 12'' Classic Snow White and Prince seen in the earlier post.

Two box designs were shown on the disneystore.com website. This first matched the graphics seen on the other 2012 Classic Doll Collection packagings.

The second design featured the identical Dwarfs but in a box more in-line with the earlier 2011 Snow White dolls. Names are printed in a different, smaller font.

Target "Ultimate Disney Princess Collection" Dolls

In 2010, Mattel teamed up with Disney to produce a seven doll Ultimate Disney Princess Collection. Sold exclusively at Target stores, the set spotlights Rapunzel surrounded by Tiana, Belle, Jasmine, Cinderella, Ariel and Snow White.

Each doll is done up royally and wears a crown. Although the Target website stated that the arms and legs are articulated, very little articulation actually exists. The dolls are Barbie-sized and made of plastic. The list price in 2010 was $59.95. Until just recently, the set could still be found both in-store and online, but it retailed for $64.99.

An earlier version of the Ultimate Disney Princess Collection was issued in 2009 (pre-Rapunzel). Tiana was the center of attention and Aurora filled the seventh doll spot. Different outfits. Ariel has a tail.

UPDATE:

The latest edition of Target's Ultimate Disney Princess Collection was just recently issued. Seen online and in stores late October 2012, it still features seven princess dolls, but Jasmine has been replaced with Merida from Brave. Sale price $54.99.

These princess dolls are also available individually in the "Sparkling Princess" series. Retail $9.99.

2011-2012 Snow White 17" Singing Dolls

In 2011, Disney Store produced a series of statuesque 17" singing dolls. A touch on the hand actives the song. Snow White sings Whistle While You Work from the film. Articulated arms and legs. Made from plastic/polyester. Requires 3 x 1.5V button cell batteries (included). List price: $29.50. Sold out.

Singing Snow White returned to the Disney Store on July 30, 2012, but this redesign had a new dress, face and hair style. Still measuring a marvelous 17" in height, the doll plays the same recording as the previous model. No hairbrush accessory. Retail price: $29.50. Still available.
