Reed & Barton Silver Trinket Box

Reed & Barton, a silversmith manufacturer based in Taunton, Massachusetts, was licensed by Disney to produce this silver-plated round trinket box. Snow White is shown on the lid holding a bluebird with an embossed banner below her. A burgundy velvet cardboard originally lined the inside.

The container measures 3.5" across and 1.437" tall (91 x 37mm).

Bottom stamp reads, "© Disney, Reed & Barton", plus the number 381.

No indication is given as to the year of manufacture, but one online re-seller states that it's at least 15 years old and probably quite a bit older than that.

Bradford Exchange - Happily Ever After Carousel

The Happily Ever After Carousel appeared on the Bradford Exchange sometime around February 2012 but with scant information about it. From the stock image, we can see the piece features Snow White and the Prince under an apple-shaped dome while the Seven Dwarfs circle around the perimeter.

Checking the website this May, we found that more details and pics had been added. It's now being referred to as the Snow White 75th Anniversary Musical Carousel, a limited edition of 7,500. The hand-painted, sculpted figures of the dwarfs rotate around the based as the carousel plays "Someday My Prince Will Come." Powered by AC adapter or 2 "AA" batteries. Measures 7" high x 7.5" across.

Disneyland "Enchanting Musical" Apple Box

Collector Keith Hively recently came into possession of this medium-sized blue velvet box with ornate, old-looking metal corners. On its lid is a large Disneyland "D".

When you open it, inside is a wooden replica of the poisoned apple from Snow White. Printed across the face are the words, "Snow White - An Enchanting New Musical".

An Enchanting Musical was a Snow White stage show that ran back in 2004-2006 at Disneyland (see earlier posts). The apple and box look to be a promotional set, possibly produced for opening night or some VIP press event around the premiere.

No matter how this might have been used, it is certainly a nice--and unique--Snow White find.

Snow White Heart-Shaped Box

This little Snow White trinket box comes from the collection of Brian Sibley. He purchased it at Walt Disney World circa 1980. "It was part of a range of gifts that were on sale in the glass/china shop on Main Street USA, Magic Kingdom."

An Incolay/Cameo Onyx box, it is manufactured from a composite of a resin and ground stone which are poured into a mold rather than carved. Measures approximately 2" high and 3" across.

Snow White collector Elana Sperber has a blue version of this heart box. It was purchased at California's Disneyland, and she believes that it also dates from the 1980s...

Crummles 'Snow White' Enamels

English enamel boxes have been around for a long time. Eighteenth century individuals would use the handmade containers "to carry snuff, sweets, and beauty spots...and courting couples made them popular as gifts betokening lasting affection." [Source: Staffordshire Enamels]

Enamel boxes continue to be popular to this day. This round example featuring a classic scene from Snow White dates from the early 1990s. Made in England by Crummles and Company, it was purchased from a gift shop in Cambridge. The box is enameled on copper and the artwork is hand painted.

While searching online for other boxes, I stumbled across this same Crummles enamel Snow White design being used on the whorl disc of a children's drop spindle.

Crummles enameled walnut whorl priced at $137 (USD). Available from Golding Fiber Tools.
