Reed & Barton Silver Trinket Box

Reed & Barton, a silversmith manufacturer based in Taunton, Massachusetts, was licensed by Disney to produce this silver-plated round trinket box. Snow White is shown on the lid holding a bluebird with an embossed banner below her. A burgundy velvet cardboard originally lined the inside.

The container measures 3.5" across and 1.437" tall (91 x 37mm).

Bottom stamp reads, "© Disney, Reed & Barton", plus the number 381.

No indication is given as to the year of manufacture, but one online re-seller states that it's at least 15 years old and probably quite a bit older than that.

Snow White Toffee Tin

The "happily ever after" scene from Snow White is depicted on the lid of this round theme park tin. Measures 8.5" across.

The photo of the bottom label is slightly out of focus, but we can see that the tin once held 13 ounces of chocolate covered almond butter toffee. The smaller print indicates distribution by Walt Disney Attractions (WDA).

WDA got its start in 1971 with the opening of Walt Disney World. The Disney subsidiary changed its name to Walt Disney Parks and Resorts in the mid-2000s. So it's probable that our tin dates from the early 2000s or mid to late 1990s.

Snow White Candy Tin Made in England

Originally sold at one of the parks, this Snow White tin was snagged at a garage sale in Colorado for only a couple bucks. Measures 3" tall x 5" across. Lid is 5.375". Snow and the Dwarfs show up in several of the side illustrations. We don't get the Old Hag, but the Queen is here along with the Magic Mirror. The Prince makes an appearance at the end.

The copyright imprint along the side seam reads, "© WALT DISNEY PRODUCTIONS". This was the corporate name used on merchandise up until February 6, 1986, when it became The Walt Disney Company. So at least we know the tin dates before this time.

Bottom stamp is marked "CONTAINER MADE IN ENGLAND"

Earlier versions of this tin had a more detailed stamp that read "DESIGNED BY DAHER, LONG ISLAND CITY, NY 11101, CONTAINER MADE IN ENGLAND."

Still another also included "THE TIN BOX COMPANY" in the marking.

My tin lacked a food ingredient sticker, but others online show that it probably once held a 13 oz. "CANDY JAR MIX" of both hard and filled candy. Distributed by Walt Disney World.

Of the tins I've personally seen with stickers attached, all were from Walt Disney World. However, the tin was also sold at Disneyland. One sticker I was told about read, "P.M. Mix Hard & Filled. Packaged for Disneyland Anaheim, CA 92803"

Disney really got some miles out of this tin design. Earlier versions were also used to sell mint lozenges...

...and sliced fruit cake too.

Here's an unopened beaut still sealed in original shrinkwrap...

If you're looking to add this Snow White tin to your own collection, it won't be difficult. Countless numbers were produced over the years, so it's fairly easy to find one for a decent price online.

Blue Snow White Candy Tin

This small tin dates from circa 2007-09. The lid features Snow White on a heart-shaped illustration. It contained fruit hard candies and was sold exclusively at the theme parks. Weight .4oz (11g); Diameter 1.5". Fits in the palm of your hand.

The back reads, "TO OPEN: press top, TO CLOSE: squeeze side." Retail price $1.50.

The container was part of a larger series of candy tins, each with a different Disney character on the lid. The collection was huge; here's just a few of them.

Snow White H&M Cosmetics

Late last year, Swedish multinational fashion company Hennes & Mauritz introduced a Snow White-themed collection of cosmetics. However, the H&M website is not very user-friendly when it comes to searching for a specific product. Luckily, several bloggers have filled in the gaps and posted pics of the items they've found in stores. The following images come from the UK courtesy of Amelia's Allsorts.

Two lip balm varieties, "Vanilla & Apple" and "Sugared Fig", in handsome-looking tins. The Snow White artwork has a nice vintage style about it.

Body Butters in silver and red apple containers.

Three bottles of Nail Polish--"Snow White", "Make Me Blush" and "Silver Frost". Retail £1.99 each.

Made in Turkey.

The collection was available from retailers in Europe. Special thanks to "K" for the tip about its release.

1938 Lunch Box Tin

A wonderful example of vintage Snow White memorabilia, this three-piece lunch box set features lithographed images of the characters on the lid and side panels. A copyright imprint "© 1938 Walt Disney Enterprises" is also included. Tin measures approximately 7" x 5" and is 4" tall.

A sandwich tray also came with the set but is rarely found in today's online sales of this item.

Vintage Norwegian Christmas Lunchbox

According to information found online, this lunchbox was manufactured for Grundvig & Engelsviken in Norway by Foblik which is short for "Forenede Blikkfabrikker" (United Tin Factories), producers of numerous Disney-themed tins in the 1930-40s. Grundvig & Engelsviken was a fish packing company established in the early 1900s by Carl Grundvig and Ole Engelsviken in the city of Fredrikstad.

The tin was issued circa 1940, and it likely contained Christmas herrings. The lid is bordered by a mistletoe design and reads "God Jul!" ("Merry Christmas" in Norwegian). Snow White appears to be serving the fish on a tray. The two animals on the floor are a chipmunk and squirrel, but it's interesting that they've been given the markings of a skunk. Was this a not-so-subliminal message about the odor to be found within the tin?

In the wrap-around illustration, the Seven Dwarfs march under the stars through the snow-covered forest. Each is seen carrying a sardine tin as they head home to the cottage.

The "with permission of" copyright marking reads "MED TILLATELSE AV: WALT DISNEY MICKEY MOUSE LTD."

Tin measures approximately 7" x 5.25" and 3.5"deep.

Lunchbox is complete with latch and handle.
