Coke & Pepsi Bottle Caps from Mexico & Argentina

A Snow White Coca-Cola bottle cap produced in Mexico, "Blanca Nieves y los 7 Enanos". Dates from when bottle tops still had cork linings.

"Blanca Nieves" on a Pepsi cap also from Mexico. The plastic lining places this one in a later time period.

These two Pepsi caps come from Argentina and probably date from the 1970s.

Kit Kat White Chocolate Art

The Kit Kat milk chocolate bar is sold worldwide, and for a limited time, they were available in white chocolate. This past April in Australia and New Zealand, the brand commemorated this specialty run in a memorable way. Illustrator Mike Watt was commissioned to create 50 "posters" made from the melted chocolate of the last 50 white Kit Kats.

Watt first shaved and crushed the bars into small fragments, which were melted down. He then painted the liquid chocolate onto red blank canvases. After the candy had re-hardened, the details were etched into the designs.

Only one Disney character was included among the 50 designs. Guess who!

Snow White Candy Tin Made in England

Originally sold at one of the parks, this Snow White tin was snagged at a garage sale in Colorado for only a couple bucks. Measures 3" tall x 5" across. Lid is 5.375". Snow and the Dwarfs show up in several of the side illustrations. We don't get the Old Hag, but the Queen is here along with the Magic Mirror. The Prince makes an appearance at the end.

The copyright imprint along the side seam reads, "© WALT DISNEY PRODUCTIONS". This was the corporate name used on merchandise up until February 6, 1986, when it became The Walt Disney Company. So at least we know the tin dates before this time.

Bottom stamp is marked "CONTAINER MADE IN ENGLAND"

Earlier versions of this tin had a more detailed stamp that read "DESIGNED BY DAHER, LONG ISLAND CITY, NY 11101, CONTAINER MADE IN ENGLAND."

Still another also included "THE TIN BOX COMPANY" in the marking.

My tin lacked a food ingredient sticker, but others online show that it probably once held a 13 oz. "CANDY JAR MIX" of both hard and filled candy. Distributed by Walt Disney World.

Of the tins I've personally seen with stickers attached, all were from Walt Disney World. However, the tin was also sold at Disneyland. One sticker I was told about read, "P.M. Mix Hard & Filled. Packaged for Disneyland Anaheim, CA 92803"

Disney really got some miles out of this tin design. Earlier versions were also used to sell mint lozenges...

...and sliced fruit cake too.

TummyTickler Bottle Cap

TummyTickers are a series of 6 oz. apple juice bottles marketed for young children. They come with reusable collectible plastic caps featuring Disney and other popular characters. Several of the princesses are represented including Snow White. These images were snapped in February of 2012 at a Wal-Mart store...

Hansel Sandwiches TV Advertisement

Over the last several years, a series of interesting commercials have been produced for Rebisco, the Republic Biscuit Corporation located in the Philippines. The TV spots use familiar fairytale characters to promote their Hansel Sandwiches (cookies).

The Snow White piece was produced in 2008. Rather than biting into the Witch's apple, Snow is drawn back into the cottage by the aroma of a Hansel cookie.

The production combines live action with animation. For obvious legal reasons, the dwarfs could not be drawn to resemble the Disney characters. Yet, the poison apple as well as the cottage and forest glen do have a strong Disney-esque feel to them.

Disney Princess Fresh Produce

It was just a couple days ago when my wife was passing through the produce isle at a Super Target. She happened to notice Snow White with Belle on a bag of apples.

Disney brand apples? It's actually not a bad idea if it motivates kids to eat real fruit rather than some sugary junk food. The 3lb bag was labeled "Disney Apples - Produce of U.S.A."

Ariel and Cinderella were seen nearby on a bag labeled "Disney Apples & Mandarins - Fruit Medley."

Now if we can just get Disney to go organic, things may actually be right in the world.

Snow White Mural at Ella's Deli

I stopped into Ella's Deli the other day for a hot dog and discovered a Snow White mural. What's Ella's Deli? It's a restaurant, kosher deli, and ice cream parlor located in Madison, Wisconsin. The place is crazy kid-friendly--from an operating 1927 carousel out front to animated figures and whimsical decor inside.

Mechanical clowns, jugglers, robots, and cartoon characters are just a few of the strange yet wonderful things you might see passing over head or adjacent your table.






Located next to a small booth is where the Snow White mural is found. Snow and four of the dwarfs are painted on the wall, but they're gathered around a spinning Ferris wheel which actually sits on a shelf.
